Brother DCP-L2520DW A4 Multifunction Mono Laser Printer : I don’t really like linux drivers

I found the printer easy to set up with the wps button on the router, and the android app works well. I also set up a couple of windows laptops (windows 7 and 10) and they worked fine.

I found the printer easy to set up with the wps button on the router, and the android app works well. I also set up a couple of windows laptops (windows 7 and 10) and they worked fine.

A bit tricky to set up but a great printer at the price. Here are the specifications for the Brother DCP-L2520DW A4 Multifunction Mono Laser Printer:

Excellent product very pleased with it. Excellent product very pleased with it. Very easy to set up great to be able to print from my mobile and tablet. Excellent printer great upgrade from my old injkjet.

It only printed in black and we needed colour.

  1. I was told by friends i must get a laser printer,i had my inject printer and the ink was expensive and kept drying out. Unfortunately it had no instructions and although i got it for quite a while i am still learning the various functions, trial and error.

  2. Had for 4m now and am so glad i purchased a laser. It’s easy to set up and use, quick to print and no constant replacement of printer cartridges compared to my previous printer. Can’t get the iphone to print to it but not a deal breaker.

    Had for 4m now and am so glad i purchased a laser. It’s easy to set up and use, quick to print and no constant replacement of printer cartridges compared to my previous printer. Can’t get the iphone to print to it but not a deal breaker.

    Our hp printer died i looked around for a good home printer which was value to run. After our hp printer died i looked around for a good home printer which was value to run. This seemed to fit the bill. It’s wifi connection which is brilliant as can print from anywhere in the house either by phone or laptop. It prints fast and is quiet.

    Took a while to install it properly. Took a while to install it properly on windows 10 but now working fine. A usb cable is needed if you want to set the wireless from a computer. You do not need anything to set airprint for iphone or ipad that was the easy part of the job. On windows 10 worked better to connect to the computer and use plug & play and then finish the installation with the supplied cd. Yo need a usb cable not suppliedte reviewed: good printer but still not able to re-configure the sleep mode. You have to switch it off and on again to be detected.

    1. Good so far, i had no problems with the sleeping mode. It’s better to configure wi-fi with the cable usb connected first, you configure the wi-fi with the cable you set the password etc and it updates the info using the usb, then after the wizard the wi-fi works straight away removing the usb cable.

This allows me to print double sided sheets easily and quickly. The scanning of several loose docs was easy too, albeit a passport scan doesn’t print that well (good enough, but only just). The wifi side of things wasn’t too difficult to setup, and allows you to put a 4 digit password when sending anything from it to your pc. This makes things a little slower when doing this constantly, but it will send all the items scanned in one group, rather than individually, so it isn’t a major holdup. One gripe, the display isn’t great in a well lit room.

Brilliant printeri have had all sorts of home printers which have worked half heartedly for a short period of time before the printing went all hay-wire or those awful colour toners ran out after a really small amount of printing. This one was pretty straight forward to set up and the wifi connecton was super easy. The toner is one of those larger black print ones that slide into the front, so much easier than those small colour ones. I use thick paper too for my letter writing and it prints on that just fine. I love this printer, it does exactly what i need it to do and i can print anything out from downstairs if i need to and the printer is upstairs with the wifi.

No good for prints as there is no colour but with he price of dedicated print services so low who needs the hassle and cost of colour printers. One bit of advice – if you are planning to use wi-fi option make sure you have a usb cable to hand and plug this in before starting the install process rather than waiting for the onscreen prompt. You can remove it after printer is set up.
