Brother HL-1112 Compact Mono Laser Printer – A great printer !

This printer is amazing for the price. This printer is amazing for the price. It’s lightening fast compared to an ink jet although jot at all quiet. If you need something to print the occassional letter and are fed up with ink cartridges drying out, this is for you. At this price, what’s to consider. I wouldn’t say it’s noisy, but it’s certainly not quiet.

An ideal black/white printer for home and occasional print.

Excellent no-frills printer. Excellent printer for the price, with crisp and sharp text printing.

A lovely little printer, ideal for my printing purposes.

    A simple good quality device that takes up as small amount of. Exactly what i was looking for, a simple good quality device that takes up as small amount of space as possible. I use the printer for e-tickets and very occasional use, purely text/bar code style stuff. Be aware that to leave paper loaded, you have to leave the front ‘hatch’ open. I tend to feed paper in as and when required, and as such, the printer remains unobtrusive and just about blends in to its surroundings as required. You’ll need a standard usb printer cable – i don’t recall a printer ever coming with one of these (i don’t know why) even as far back as the 90’s. I will report back when the original toner runs out, to give an idea of how much use i got.

    1. Excellent quality printer cheap consumables for cheap running costs. I purchased a pantum p2200w which didn’t work and subsequently found out it’s toner cost £46. So after returning the defective printer i found, after a while of searching this brother hl 1112. It might not be wireless, but reminds me very much of my old hp laserjet. Its a sturdy machine and prints very well. Any “smoke” you might see (it’s actually steam) is only the toner being melted onto the paper, and is completely harmless. One of the many things i love about this printer is that the consumables are the cheapest for any printer i’ve been looking at. The toner cartridge for this printer is as low as £10.

    The ink ran out pretty fast. I printed out about 700 pages and. The ink ran out pretty fast. I printed out about 700 pages and than it stopped. I know leaser printer heat up more then inkjet printers, but sometimes i feel this one heats up a bit too much. So far it didn’t cause any issues.

    1. I read other reviews but you have to use to believe how fast this printer is compared with inkjet. The mono print is fine for what i need. Great value and definitely recommend.

    It’s quite quiet and respectably quick to print. Trivial set up, prints fine. It’s quite quiet and respectably quick to print. Chose brother because their consumable costs and traditionally lower.

    Good little printer, and pretty quick. The only downside would be how it chucks the paper all over the place as it prints, shame it doesn’t have something t collect it in.

    1. Light and compact laser printer with good output. This little printer takes up about a third of my desk real estate previously taken up by its predecessor. As well as being compact it is also very light, not that i plan to move it around. The mac set up was a breeze using the downloadable file and the monochrome output is pretty good quality for a low cost printer. I bought this for occasional use and it is a laser printer so i should have no problem with ink drying out before its next use. The only issue so far was when i tried too register it for warranty purposes on the brother website and i couldn’t – i emailed brother customer support to learn that it couldn’t be registered on their website first off as it had been supplied to the reseller more than 6 months ago. Post email it is registered.

    1. Great quality printer, goodbye clogged inkjet. I bought this primarily because i was sick of the problems i faced with inkjet printers. I don’t print much, maybe once a year if that and every time i came to print all the cartridges had dried up or one of the colours had run dry meaning i had to replace it just to print in black. I didn’t realise at the time that laser printers could be picked up so cheaply as i always thought of them as office equipment. Thankfully i found this brother printer which is fantastic for my needs. The build quality is brilliant and i’ve never had any problems with it. I recently had to print over 150 pages in one go and this printer didn’t fail me once, no paper jam, no ink low messages etc like i always used to get on my inkjet machine. It also does a good job with using creased paper too due to how hot the toner gets it effectively irons them outit claims to do 1000 sheets but having set mine on to draft mode, it is rumoured it can get double that out of one toner. The drum is also good for 10,000 sheets which overall is way more cost effective than an ink jet. It comes with a driver cd which i didn’t use as i could download the drivers faster than i could put the disc in the drive.
