Mono laser printer brother hl2270dw. If you absolutely don’t need any colo(u)r printouts on a4 sheets then this is the about the very best you can buy. Nb: toner cartridge comes in 2 replaceable parts tn2220 & dr2200 which wear out at different rates of usage and they both cost different amounts of money to buy. Suitable for home or small office (or school office) usage. Recommended by my pc fixer guy in w. London(hint: mr alg) who knows his stuff or computer onions etc. Owned mine since 2012/3 and no bother at all. Various software sites will do next day delivery if you need a new genuine brother toner cartridgeor you can find a shop that does refilling an old brother toner cartridge. Print quality is immaculate/perfect/crisp for cvs etc. Absolutely cannot really run my life without it.
I read a number of reviews before buying this printer. I had none of the troubles that just a few others had mentioned. Like most reviewers, it arrived very quickly, which was great. I had a uk plug and english instructions that were clear and precise. I had no trouble with the excellent wireless setup (my bt home hub 3 connected with the single push of the wps button) and i had my computer printing to it within about 10 minutes max. I have also got my family’s iphones and ipad printing to it with the free downloadable app. And therein lies the only drawback – it’s not an ‘airprint’ printer, so you have to use the app to print from mobile devices. My wife’s elderly apple laptop connected immediately and printed duplex straight away. Having a printer of this quality, that prints on both sides, that prints at this speed and can be set up with this ease, for this price is excellent indeed.
Good printer : setup on a mac with wireless in 10 mins. Bought this to replace an hp laserjet 1102w which has terrible mac wireless setup (installer runs in a browser and is not compatible with latest versions of safari or chome). It’s been great – setup took less than 10 minutes and we are happily printing wirelessly with no trouble. It’s also got a much better paper tray and built in double sided printing as well, so a positive improvement on the hp.

Excellent printer and i would recommend it to anyone who wants a cheap lazer printer. My particular printer has an annoying habit of freezing sometimes when the paper level is low, but this is easily solved by emptying the paper tray completely, trying to print without any paper, which it won’t, then re-fill with paper and it works. I must have a fickle printer.
Brother mono laser printer hl-2270dw. Recently jumping ship from pc to mac necessitated buying a new laser printer as there was no mac driver for the old machine. I focused on this particular brother printer as it met the criteria i was looking for, namely: wireless ready, optional duplex printing, a decent sized paper container and on going running costs for the consumables that looked acceptable. In addition there was the usual gold plated service on offer from amazon, being: an affordable purchase price, no shipping charges, a hassle free returns policy if things go wrong and promise of a timely delivery. The wireless installation was no problem. The enclosed instructions were clear, concise, and easy to follow. The test print came out on cue and was perfect at the first attempt. After a month’s use i have no cause for any concern. The print is fine and even double sided print shows no signs of a heat curl when ejected from the machine. That all said there are a couple of minor cons albeit probably of no significance to the majority of users.

Small, quiet, fast, cheap: what more could you want?. Laser printer design has come a long way since the health-and-safety-busting big hp laserjets of some years back. I bought this brother to retire an old hp on our home network. It’s tiny by comparison, yet has a big paper tray. It’s so light you think they’ve left something out. Yet it’s fast, both to the first page and for each subsequent one. It’s quiet and it doesn’t smell. It prints double-sided if you want. And the wireless setup is really easy. If you have a recent router with an auto-discovery protocol, you need a pen tip and a finger, and that’s it.
Bought this as fed up of paying a fotune in inks for hp colour printer when the majority of my printing is a4 black and white business stuff. Very pleased with this machine, a doddle to set up wifi and works brilliantly with great quality. Couldnt handle a full a4 mono photo by wifi, dont know why as i’m not a techie, but i can live with that, as it does what i mainly wanted it for very well. Will save a fortune over time by not having to buy millions of those little balck ink cartridges.
