A very good printer, but check firmware version & upgrade if necessary for wifi etc to be reliable. I use this printer as part of a home office. I’ve had it almost a year now and it has been flawless the whole time. We always scan using the windows/mac software, which works very reliably even over wifi. Key advantages* toner cartridges are not chipped; this means both third-party cartridge are cheap, and self refilling is simple and trouble free (nb: the first time you need to get a kit to add a refill “bung” + a “reset wheel”, easily found online, or a cartridge with these already fitted). * a good flat bed scanner complete with sheet feeder (works better than the more expensive samsung we have in the office)* automatic duplex printing* fast (both first page out & once in full flow)* laser, so no none of the ink drying, clogged heads, etc often associated with inkjet printers* works fine and easily with everything i’ve tried to use to print to it – macos, windows, ios (it has airprint support), linux, android (brother iprint&scan app on google play)* full range of connectivity options (usb, wired ethernet, wifi)* large capacity paper tray* manual sheet feed for envelopes etcpossible downsides:* printing is black and white (hopefully that’s an obvious one)* print quality of images isn’t great (but certainly acceptable at this price point); documents print fine* firmware must be upgraded to at least version j (or later, current release is k – the tool is on the brother website) for the printer to work reliably with wifi devices / mac clients, and for it to wake reliably from sleep, but this version should be pre-installed on any printer manufactured in the last year or moreat the current selling price of £120, this printer is excellent value for money and i highly recommend it. I thoroughly researched before buying this printer, and this is very much the best printer i could find at this price point. If you don’t need the printer to connect to your wifi (e. You can connect it with an ethernet cable) then the otherwise identical version without wifi is usually noticeably cheaper: brother mfc-l2700dn compact mono laser all-in-one printer with wired connectivity – i’ve recommended that we get this version at work.
This was easy to set up on the wifi with wps and. Bought as a replacement for a basic brother laser which conked out after a couple of years. This was easy to set up on the wifi with wps and has good scan and copy functionality. Scanning to computer is not very intuitive and is best accomplished using the pc software as opposed to doing it on the device user interface. For some reason the device doesn’t like to scan to file but the software will scan to pdf and various other formats.
Works fantastic at a great price.

Very good print at a very good price. Delivery good and well on time.
Good product at a good price, set up on usb & wired network fine.
Read this if you want your mfc-l2700dw to work as it should (with apple products). This is an awesome printer for the price but you have to be willing to put in some effort to solve an issue it has with apple products. I have spent a whole day testing this printer as it is going to my mum and i dont want the headache of her calling me all the time because it has issues. It does (or at least did) have an issue which i will describe so that any current owners or prospective buyers will be able to get it to work properly. If you read the reviews of it both on amazon. Com which (has so many more reviews) the common theme of almost all the bad reviews is that people are using apple equipment (osx and ios) with it and although it works well some of the time, the wifi connectivity is intermittent and unreliable when used with apple devices, working when you first put it on and then ‘going offline’ at almost random times. However, i have a windows 8 computer also hooked into the same network and even when either my macbook says the printer is offline and / or my iphone says that it cant find the airprint printer, my windows machine can still scan and print as normal. This is probably because brother have first and foremost designed this machine for the business environment where windows machines are the most common.
Fantastic value, and duplex printing. I have bought 5 brother all-in-one laser printers for myself and other family members, and they have proved inexpensive to buy and run, and reliable and easy to use. The our old dcp 7030 has performed perfectly for several years, but the drum is now exhausted for the second time and we have taken the opportunity to upgrade to the 2700 printer because of its duplex (double sided) printing capability. Duplex is a huge improvement. It can be used automatically for printing, and with a little manual intervention for copying. The automatic document feeder does not turn over for duplex printing, but that would be asking too much. There are other improvements, of which three stand out for me. It is quieter, and the fan stops as soon as the print has finished. The scanning software allows scan to pdf, so that successive pages can be added to the same pdf file, rather than as individual pictures. And the first page prints much faster.
