A decent, if unspectacular offering. Things got off to a bad start, when a bout of cursing and swearing ensued. You see, this £100 printer lacks one small thing. It doesn’t come with a usb connection lead. Cue another 4 days while i ordered one before i could use it. Once i could actually use the printer, i was pleased with it. Although, the claims of ‘space saving design’ don’t really live up to the reality, as the front paper feed takes up so much desk space. It’s also not the quickest laser printer around. However, the whole point of this is printing costs, and it does ok. Set up was easy, and it’s a lot quieter than some laser printers i’ve used. Canon claim that it’s also energy efficient, and i’ll take their word for it. I’m not sure about the all-in-one cartridge, as it means you’re replacing drum and cartridge at the same time. Why would they need simulataneous replacement?there’s a lot of competition in the entry level laser market, and this one is a decent, if unspectacular offering.
Another canon product ordered through amazon that was easily installed and running without a hitch. This was bought as a surprise for my wife who is pleased with the performance. Between ordering and delivery seemed to take forever (3 weeks) but then i opted for not paying extra for rapid delivery. It is similar to the old lbp2900 (6 years old) which i have in my study. It seems to be slightly more noisy, appears faster and produces beautiful printing, even for very fine small details on spread sheets.
The goods things are very good. No usb connection lead is supplied. It is not a network printer so this is the only way of connecting it so why not supply one instead of supplying two mains leads one with a continental plug. It is described as space saving and the depth is indeed much less than comparable black and white laser printers but the space is not really saved as you need to lower the paper feed from the front so nothing can be stored in front of it anyway. If positioned at the front of a desk this would be very vulnerable to damage. The unused paper after a print job cant be left in the paper tray as it needs to fold up after use so it will probably always be left down and charged with paper by the majority of users. In comparison with a similarly priced black and white laser printer such as the brother hl-2035, which i am used to, the performance as regards quality and speed was somewhat better on the canon lbp6000. The quality was determined using a greyscale linearisation gray gamma 2. The steps were resolved slightly better on the canon than my brother hl-2035 using the highest quality settings. On the standard default settings they were identical in quality on printed words, greyscale pictures and test charts. The printer unlike the brother needs the power switch on the front switching on if the printer is powered off something i do not need to do with the brother printer. That aside it is ready and goes to sleeep quicker and almost silently. Also compared to the brother hl-2035 changing the cartridge on the canon lbp6000 also changes the drum. After taking some time to research what printer would best suit my needs, i settled on the canon i-sensys lbp6000. I had originally set aside a larger budget and toyed with the idea of a full colour laser printer. I did not want to spend more than £150, which meant that buying a decent colour laser printer was out of the question. After looking at mono printers in the £150 price range, i was disappointing to still reading bad reviews. When i came across the canon, i was amazed at the reviews considering the very reasonable price. I took a chance and bought it. It arrived today, so it is still early days but my initial feels are positive. Compact and attractive design, yes the paper tray does pull out of the front and take up more room, but i still have plenty of space to play with. The printer is fairly noisy, but not usually so.
There’ll probably be nothing wrong with the printer at all; the dog was getting the driver to work – took three and a half hours. Canon usa was a waste of time if you have the same problem download the driver from canon-europe. + you’ll need a printer lead.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Fast, quiet and efficient!
- The goods things are very good
- A fast and compact printer
I find that this laser printer saves you a lot of money compared to an inkjet if you only need to print in black and white. It is ideal for students who have to create a lot of course work, newsletter writers, authors and for general office use. The speed which the printer offers is excellent, and the text is sharp, clear and well defined. Canon is a well established and reliable name and i would recommend this printer as it functions perfectly as a laser printer should and at a reasonable cost. Canon i-sensys lbp6000 laser printer.
Only replaced the toner once in its 3 years. This is better then the cheap ink jet printer. To run an ink jet printer will cost more than £120 per year.
