Canon i-SENSYS MF724Cdw Multifunction Laser Colour Printer : Fantastic bit of kit

This thing is bloody amazing, it’s not exactly compact but not massive either. This thing is bloody amazing, it’s not exactly compact but not massive either. Print quality is awesome and i eventually worked out how to scan to an email address, really obvious when you realise that it has to have a from addressi setup a google account just for the scanner, entered that as the from address and then entered all my recipients into the address book, now i can scan and send to any email address and it appears to come from the specific gmail addressi didn’t have to mess around with port numbers and all that nonsense like some google searches tell you.

Excellent home/office printer.

Fantastic bit of kit, we ordered it for our office to replace our smaller brother printer and are delighted with it. Very user friendly and easy to install. The scanner works like a dream too, the feeder in particular has been a big help.

Excellent printer, poor scanner. . Best printer i have ever purchased. Extremely high quality, 3 years on site warranty and it weighs 25 kg, so the build quality is very apparent. Exceptional print quality, fast and very impressive on 90 gsm paper (which hardly costs much more than other paper these days, so dont be a cheap skate as the difference in the end result is really noticeable). Extremely useful with the google cloud, i have used that more than i thought. Also good network features and low power consumption (and silent) when in sleep mode, but still wakes for prints. The only criticism is the scanner adf/duplex unit which is poor at scanning even batches of newly printed pages, regularly jams and i feel the adf is effectively almost useless. So in retrospect i feel i should have purchased a cheaper laser printer and a separate document scanner.

  • Ideal home office multifunction device.

Biggest complaint is the software / programming of this thing. If you use non cannon cartridges then its programmed to pester you every day to tell you that you haven’t been ripped off by canon, spending a fortune and get you to confirm this. Its not very good with none standard paper sizes. To many settings in to many places. On the positive the energy saving features are just brilliant.

Ideal home office multifunction device. . An excellent multifunction device – lives up to the tech spec. Weighs quite a bit so ensure you’ve considered how you’ll get it out of the box/ up the stairs (i suggest two people) and have a suitably strong surface on which to place the device.
