Canon i-SENSYS MF8080Cw Multifunction Colour Laser Printer – Reliable printer

Not the fastest, but definitely good. Scans well and easy to print from usb memory stick.

Finally a printer that is easy to set up and virtually works out of the box. After the disappointments of the hp laserjet pro 200 color m276n all-in-one printer which was not wireless as advertised and the completely useless lexmark x544dw (the lexmark technicians could not get the wireless to work after 2 hours +) the canon set up has taken me just around1 hour (whilst juggling a baby) without the need to ring helplines. The user manuals supplied were accurate and relatively easy to follow if you go slowly. There was no need as with the previous printers tried to connect the printer to the router to setup wireless connectivity. If you are a mac user, this is the all in one printer to get. You can also print from ipads and iphones using this printer by downloading free from the app store canon mobile print. Though it initially seems that it will only print photos and not iworks documents it will. Simply click to open the iworks document in a different app and the option to open in canon mobile print appears, enabling you to print. The print quality seems sharp and the print speed fast enough for the money.

This machine was set up be me, a relative computer novice in about an hour. The print quality looks very nice and the cartridges are very convenient to change with very little risk of toner getting everywhere. They are held in a pull out drawer on the front and are very easy to install. The only problem i had during the install was that the drivers are for a 32bit system. For my pc, i just had to go to canon’s uk site and download the 64bit drivers. The wireless setup was a little drawn out but was ok. Firewalls must be taken down during the installation but can be put back after. The wireless manual needs reading a couple of times just to familiarise yourself with the instructions. Do look around for the best deal though.
