Good printer that (though taking a little time) was really easy to install as it included the drivers, etc. On the printer itself without requirement to use a cd-rom or download.
Bought this as has wi fi & auto duplex facility & very low cost per page. Easy touchscreen menu & text quality is 1st class. Had trouble getting set up disk to run – had to call in my expert son.
Heck of a lot cheaper to run than the colour one brilliant printer, airprints too. I got it to work alongside my colour printer. Heck of a lot cheaper to run than the colour onebrilliant printer, airprints too.
When my trusty 2200d finally packed it in, i wanted a replacement with the same features – and was pleased to find the m401d, which appears to be an updated version with very similar functions. The printer was a doddle to install under windows 7. The drivers are stored in the printer itself, so as soon as the usb cable is plugged in the printer is recognised and the driver installation starts automatically. There is a software cd included, but it wasn’t necessary to use it. Top marks to hp for making it easy to deselect all of the bloatware: as usual there are a multitude of unnecessary programs included, but the only thing you actually need to install is the driver itself. Once installed, the printer is ready to go. The only negative point was a sneaky attempt to install unwanted software (bing toolbar) – this is slipped in on a separate screen from the main options, so look carefully when installing. Ok, it’s easily deselected, but this is the kind of thing you’d expect from freeware that needs the sponsorship – not when you’ve spent two hundred quid on something. Once set up, everything works perfectly – the print quality is every bit as good as the 2200d it replaces, and printing seems significantly faster. Printer sharing under windows 7 was easy to set up: simply share the printer on the pc it’s connected to and then you can use it from any other computer on the network – so for me there was really no need for the more expensive wireless or network versions of this printer. Bottom line: fast delivery, took it out of the box, plugged it in and it works – if only all products were as good as this .
Very quiet and fast printing speed.

Excellent mono-laser printer. A quick and quiet duplex printer. This was just the ticket when i needed to print off some large documents, it was very fast and the documents were printed to a very good standard. So far have no problems and was very easy to set up and use wireless. An excellent mono-laser printer, with no scanning or photocopying facility.
This is an excellent printer – we have one at work and i. This is an excellent printer – we have one at work and i decided to buy one for home use. If you don’t need colour this must be one of the best printers on the market – very quick and connected to a router will also print from ipads and smart phones.
