HP CF288A LaserJet Pro 400 M425dw MFP 33ppm Printer – Generally very good. I’m using it over wireless

I’m using it over wireless, which is very handy. Occasionally the printer queue seems to get stuck and it says ‘connecting’ for ages, which is a bit annoying, especially as i run to tight deadlines, so one star docked. Good quality and speed though.

I slow noisy upgrade for the 1536 but the wireless and airprint work well. Much slower and noisier than the hp1536. You cannot scan using the touch screen as this insists you set this up to scan to network even if it is a stand-alone computer [difficult, but you can use an icon on your computer screen – again very slow compared with a dedicated scanner. Wireless and airprint work well. ]

  • Fast, efficient and works great with my mac pro tower over wireless.

I bought this printer specifically for it’s scan to mail functionality – to be clear the ability of the printer to email a scanned document without needing a pc hooked up (ie it mails directly via a gmail server). I bought a br##her printer for the same purpose but that turned out to be a door stop as br##her don’t support the necessary ssl protocols required by every mail server under the sun. Feels like a quality product. . The menus and touch screen are fab. Really easy to use – it just feels better designed. Spent 4 days (and failed) to configure the br##her printer. The hp was installed and happily mailing out scans in about half an hour from opening the box. It’s nice to work with something that has been well designed and does the job.

So glad i stopped buying inkjets and paid a bit more for a laser. This hasn’t clogged or jammed once. If like me, you’ve had enough of inkjets constantly going wrong, or if you don’t use a printer often (which clogs inkjets) this is a great printer. It does take longer to turn on than an inkjet but in every other way, it’s much better. All the features on this work well, airprint is brilliant. Scan and email is fantastic too.
