Bought quite a few items from amazon and had no problems. Item was delivered well packed and the printer was simple to set up. If my comments are what you are looking for in a printer and supplier then i have no hesitation in recommending both.
Nice little laserjet for home/student use. I am using this hp p1005 laserjet printer with my apple 13′ macbook running osx leopard (10. I purchased this over the similarly priced canon i-sensys lbp2900b laser printer due to the lack of macintosh drivers from canon and the many positive reviews for hp i came across when researching small monochrome laser printers on the internet. Installation was quick and simple and inside the box was a leaflet for a £35 rebate from hp on the condition that you complete 2 surveys on your printer usage over a year, which was a pleasant surprise. The printer is very compact and folds away its trays neatly when there is no paper inside. It powers-up very fast and is relatively quick to process information prior to printing. The main criticisms i find with this printer however are that the heat produced from printing will bend your paper slightly, the supplied toner cartridge is only half-full (marketed as a ‘trial’ cartridge), there is no usb cable supplied in the box and if you’re printing more than 10 pages you begin to notice that laser-printer ozone smell, a necessary byproduct of the printing process. Criticisms aside for around £50 this is a good quality printer. Full toner cartridges are around £40 but they are good for approx.
Always liked hp because they are durable and they replace when something goes wrong without a fuss. This is probably one of my best purchases. Few months in it stopped working, called hp and they sent a replacement straight out (brand new). It powers on & warms up very quickly (within few seconds).
This is pretty good value for a simple mono laserjet printer. We’ve always stuck with hp and found them reliable. Easy to install, cost effective to run. Sometimes cheaper recycled/refurbed toner cartridges can create messy print quality. For this money they’re never going to be anything flasher than a simple workhorse, but they run as a share on networks happily and although the lead time to print on the p1005 seems fractionally slower than the lj1020 it replaced it isn’t a huge issue (but cost it a star).

Reviews from purchasers :

- HP Printer Laser Jet P1005
The hp p1005 is a neat little laserjet, with a small footprint, so doesn’t take up much desk space. Operation is fairly noisy and unless you have the paper in exactly right, it doesn’t always pick up, although with just a little nudge of your paper it will on the next attempt. For a budget laserjet it does the job required. If the star system had been categorised, i’d have given it 3* for operation & 4* for value for money.
My trusty kyocera had given up the ghost and as i mostly use colour didn’t want to spend much on a mono laser printer. After reading the reviews i went for the laserjet p1005 in spite of some saying set up wasn’t easy.
