HP LaserJet Pro P1102 Laser Printer – Good little printer

Compact laser printer hp p1102 – good little machine. We had an old hp1002 at work which got broken after about 7 years, so for speed of replacement, i bought this and claimed it back on expenses. The purchase was based on it being very similar, as the old one had been so reliable, much more so than a complicated large colour printer/copier/scanner in the main office. This so far has been exactly what the user wanted, small, efficient and good quality black and white prints. It will be heavily used as the old one was, and so far its ticking all the boxes. Would recommend as long as you don’t want colour at all.

Great basic black and white printer. If you want a basic printer no-fuss printer to print whatever you throw at it, this is a great one. It’s not phased by envelopes or thicker paper or different. It seems to be as good as the hp1005 series printer which it replaced and was a great workhorse for 10 years – and not expensive to run. It doesn’t do colour or double-sided, but i don’t need that – i have another printer in my office for all that clever stuff.

Love this printer, had one in my office for 10 years and never had an issue with it. It just does what it says on the tin, black and white bog standard printing – our other inkjet printer at home works fine for colour but is much more temperamental so i wanted something straightforward for printing text. Hopefully this printer will last as long as my old office one :)however, one thing i didn’t like is that there’s no printer cable included – first time that’s happened to me, had to buy this separately. I had to call hp to obtain a driver to work with os10 yosemite on my macbook – there isn’t anything online as far as i’m aware and the instructions from hp direct you to apple updates (where the driver isn’t available – the only laserjet one listed doesn’t work with this printer) and hp don’t have software to download and direct you back to apple (not helpful)this is an old printer product now so not surprising but the chap from hp support was very patient – they will go through all the usual rubbish reading off their script but they just need to download the software for you but (like most tech support) you’ll have to go through all the hoops first.

  • So far so good. Few months of using and quite heavy load
  • Compact Laser Printer HP P1102 – good little machine
  • hp p1102 laser jet printer

Does exactly what it says on the tin. A simple honest laser printer that plods on without fuss or ceremony. If you’re looking for a reliable black printer look no further. I’ve had mine for over a year with no issues and have just bought a second one for a friend who’s also delighted with it.

Works just the way it should, straight out of the box. The driver for it was already installed in windows 7.

The first time i printed on it i was disappointed with the quality. Type printing was not very sharp. But after a root around in the print settings of the app i was printing from (indesign) i discovered it was printing everything as a ‘bitmap’. Turn this option off and the output is now brilliant.

Refreshingly reliable after my deskjet. If all you require is reliable black/white printing, then look no further. Very tolerant of long periods out of use, and seems to use no toner. I bought a replacement cartridge (cheap if you research the right alternative supplier), but after a couple of years use at a few sheets a week, i’m still using the originally-supplied, low-capacity cartridgea wireless version is available for those who require it.

  1. And print quality is excellent. It can print two sided and it’s easy. Had this printer for around ten months now. It is fast, quiet, and print quality is excellent. It can print two sided and it’s easy to load paper. I have printed hundreds of a4 sheets of text and the toner cartridge is still going strong. You can leave it months and use it again with no problems, unlike inkjets where the jets dry up if not used regularly. Perfect for authors/writers who want to print quantity and quality.

Decent hardworking small footprint unit. Replaced the faulty unit i already had – as i had a couple of cartridges in stock decided to buy the same onedecent quality print with a fast print out.

Classic reliable hp printer. Very loud, so i can’t use it in the middle of the night. Prints very quickly, and recognises envelopes automatically, doing away with the need to adjust the software for printing on envelopes. If you encounter a printing fault, which is rare, a pop up will tell you how to fix the problem. Word has it that hp is blocking the use of cheaper generic cartridges with the in-built chip through a software update on windows, so if you want to save money on cartridges, you may wish to think carefully before updating the software.

Reasonably priced printer, quick prints, does the job well. However, the toner is a bit pricey.

Great for occasional use but also can handle 100 page documents with ease. Sheet feeder works well and folds up, so nice and compact if needed. Toner is cheap to buy and lasts well. I would recommend using decent quality paper though as cheap a4 paper does heat up during the printing process so it comes out a little crumpled but apart from this minor niggle it is an outstanding buy and the printer driver is very good. It works flawlessy in windows 7. I have printed 100 page documents with ease on this printer. Best thing about laser technology is no more dried up ink cartridges. I think i’ve been through about 4 inkjets in the last 4 years so don’t hesitate to buy a laser it’s a no brained decision.

      1. Much easier wireless set-up than i’d feared. This hp laserjet pro m201dw printer is the first wireless printer i’ve used, and after i’d read reviews on various wireless printers saying how they were impossible or very difficult to set up to print wirelessly, i was somewhat nervous whilst waiting for this to arrive. The documentation that came with the printer showed little pictures of what was in the box, how to remove all the tape and packing on the printer, and how to attach the paper trays. Following the brief directions enclosed in the box, i chose to use the supplied usb cable for setting the printer up to recognise the wi-fi (using settings stored on the laptop), and it was soon connected to the router. Once done, the cable was no longer needed to get the laptops (one windows 8. 1 and one windows 7) to talk and print to the printer. Pretty quick, pretty painless, and not a swear word uttered. One very silly thing i did do wrong, though, was not to load paper in the printer before setting it up – the test page disappeared into the ether when the paper was missing, so i had to re-do that bit of the set-up. Wherever i seem to have worked over many years, i always seem to have had an hp1102n printer to use, and i have never known any of them to go wrong – they’ve always been totally reliable and robust no matter how much use they have had.
