HP PageWide Pro 477dw Multifunction Printer : Very quick and flexible.

Fantastic product really pleased with this printer very reliable and fast.

Best printer i have had so far.

Page wide inkjet printing – superb new technology . Had this for almost a year now. As fast, if not faster than a laser printer but way more cost effective. No more whirring print head flying left and right across the page. This has an inkjet print head that spans the entire page width and can therefore print ‘in one go’ as the paper moves through. Really quick, great quality printing, simple set up, no connectivity issues if you have reliable wifi, scan to network folder, print remotely by sending a document by email to the printer, superb report facility that records number of prints made, date cartridges installed, etc – even has nfc printing from mobile device (haven’t tried that yet)photo prints 6×4, 7×5 etc are ok on decent photo paper but not its sweet spot. Cartridges are not cheap, but do last a long time and don’t appear to ‘evaporate’ over time when not in use. Already seeing the prices begin to fall – £50 now for black, was nearer £70 last year. Certainly wouldn’t buy another. The wireless connection keeps cutting out and after numerous calls to hp help etc and re-installing drivers and updates etc, etc – it just isn’t worth it. When it works, it does a great job but i wouldn’t buy another hp.

Very good quality, takes longer than expected to actually print so don’t rush it.

    I always get printers from hp. After 8 years my previous hp laserjet was getting tired so i bought this for the office. Previously i have had a laser but it seems inkjet is the way to go. The ink cartridges are a similar size. I paid about £250 plus vat and hp are currently doing a cash back offer giving you £130 back. Introductory ink cartridges are not full capacity but hp have to make their money somehow. I’ve tried after market ink but it’s not as good as the original. Great printing, the touch screen works well, scanning to email and your computer is a great feature. I’ve not used the fax facility.

    Really nice printer, great value for money. First off this is an excellent printer and scanner. The speed and quality is amazing, easily comparable to a work group laser printer. The only slight problem we had was after initial setup the printing of solid colours was slightly ‘streaky’. However, after leaving the printer overnight and re-testing in the morning the problem disappeared, it appears that the ink needed a little time to work it’s way through. It is great value for money but as we’re all aware the cost is ink cartridges which, for a full set, looks like it’ll cost around £200 for 3,500 pages. The initial ‘setup’ ink cartridges report they’ll print around 1,200 pages. This was an upgrade from an hp officejet pro 8600 which was a little noisy due to the moving printer head. With the printer’s pagewide stationary head that shaking and rattling has gone.

This printer is lightning fast at printing and scanning. What few retailers mention is that this printer has two readers for the double sided scanning – this means that it reads both sides of a page at once rather than spitting the page out, pulling it in again and scanning the other side. What that means is that it is far less likely to jam when double sided scanning old documents like contracts etc. We’ve used this printer for just over a year now and it has been a reliable work horse. Very occasionally it will not scan to a pc as it cant connect, so we turn it off and on again and its good to go. All in all the hardware is superb, software is average but for £350 there really isn’t anything else out there that is remotely comparable in terms of quality of print, speed of print, speed of scan and double-reader double sided scanning.

    It’s very quick and the prints are good. There’s no printer shaking because the head doesn’t move. Inks are pricey but last a very long time. Scanner wakes up quickly and photocopies are fast. Copying is very flexible – you can copy single sided to double sided or vice versa if you wish. Wake up times are very quick. Both my pc and my wife’s macs print fine and find it on the network with no problems.
