Samsung CLP-310 Colour Laser Printer : No problems with Windows

Ideal product for home use or sole trader. We bought this printer together with a photo printer to replace an ageing inkjet printer. I feel the samsung clp-310 is ideal for home use, as it is cheap and has a small footprint (for a colour laser) without having to sacrifice print quality. I was amazed how quiet the printer is; the fan is inaudible and even when printing a document, the printer is whisper quiet. Even though this is a really good printer, i feel it’s use is limited to home use or for individual use in a small office, as the toner catridges are physically small to fit in the compact machine, so i would imagine if put to heavy use, one would have to replace the cartridges regularly. Additionally, despite an impressively small delay between sending a file to print and the printer producing the first page, subsequent pages seem a little slow, so you would soon annoy colleagues if sending multi-page documents.

Recently bought a samsung clp-310 laser printer from amazon, delivered quickly, i had it working in minutes after it arrived. Really good all round performance on colour printing although i admit that photographs are not quite as good as on an inkjet, but cheaper to print and the colours don’t run if the copy gets damp.

Samsung clp-310 colour laser printer. I was looking for a small, inexpensive, colour laser printer for home use. The samsung clp-310 fits this spec. Very well and so far has performed admirably, albeit a little slow with colour printing. Very quiet and about half the size of my previous colour laser, for under £100 should be good value for money assuming it continues to perform. Samsung clp-310 colour laser printer.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Great value Printer, shame about the toner cartridges
  • Great clour printer

As a printer it is ok but i was very surprised that samsung now tell me it does not print 6 x 4 sized photos. I wish i had known this before i ordered it. There is a bit of delay from telling it to print & for it to actually start. My hp 5610 inkjet at around £35 does it virtually instantly & is wifi whereas the samsung isn’t. The only reason i got it was because it was a laser. Could be a lot better than it is, especially with a name like samsung.

Plugged it in and ran the supplied cd in my pc and it works perfectly first time. Quality of colour printing on normal a4 paper is great. I’m fed up of buying ink for my inkjetcolour printer, only for it to dry up within a couple of weeks, so i’m very happy knowing that this printer will sit there and not quietly turn useless whilst my back is turned. I only print in colour once or twice per month, and this will work when i want it to, as opposed to my very frustrating inkjet printer. In fact, i’ve just dumped the inkjet in the bin – and good riddance to it.

I have to say that i am very pleased with the product. I do find that it takes a bit longer to trundle a page out than i had anticipated but it is not an issue, and the quality of print and colour is excellent. There have been no problems with windows xp but have encountered a snag printing off an online bank statement with puppy linux where printing after checking the web page print box, the printer would lock up after the first page. This seems to be overcome by going into file, page set up and selecting clp310 rather than any printer, so i suspect a linux issue rather than the printer. For anyone who prints very occasionally and is fed up of inkjet blocking i highly recommend it.

I had the previous model clp300 but some copy paper got wrapped round the heating roller and wrecked the soft surface. My fault for using a sticky-when-hot paper. It works well – just done a run of 80 colour copies with no trouble. Only thing is the price of toner and you need to buy a new waste toner unit from time to time. Why can’t samsung cut the prices of their toner?i would recommend this for home users.

Great value printer, shame about the toner cartridges. I’m on my second clp-310 and it’s difficult to find fault with it. It’s quiet, reliable and the print quality, both b&w and colour is remarkable considering the cost of the printer. The cost of replacement cartridges is a whole different story though. It actually costs more for a full set of cartridges than the cost of the printer. Why anyone would buy replacement cartridges is a mystery when for less money you can buy the whole machine. It’s a shame because it makes it a throw-away printer long before it’s reached the end of it’s useful life. Samsung really needs to get this sorted and reduce the price of consumables dramatically.
