Samsung CLP-415NW Wireless Colour Laser Printer – Very pleased with my new printer

Great printer, amazing photographic output for a laser printer. I have used a tiny samsung 315w colour laser for three years but unfortunately the replacement drum i purchased was faulty after three months. So it was a good idea to go for a change instead and sell off the toners. The first thing i noticed was the larger size and weight. Make sure you measure your work surface carefully. Wireless setup was easy for pad and phone but loading the printer on my excellent standalone printer was another matter. The error message after loading the driver disc said i was not the administrator. Luckily i was using windows 7 professional so it found a driver on the web. The generic driver on the samsung website gave me the same problem samsung technicians attempted to help but really did not.

Very pleased with my new printer. Ended up using laptop with direct usb after realising my pc didn’t have wifi and wasn’t close enough to use usb cable. Probably would have worked setting it up with laptop wifi, but had already connected before realising the option was there. Like the way it goes into quiet mode if you just leave it, but springs back into life as soon as you print something to it. Mainly using it in eco mode at the moment, but perfectly good quality for what i want. So much better than the old ink jet printer, as i only use it periodically and now i don’t have to worry about ink drying up. Iphone app works fine with it.

Great printer, pity about the toner. I was looking to replace my inkjet as i do a fair amount of printing and had heard that laser toners lasted much longer. This printer is big and heavy and seems well built. It was pretty easy to set upon my mac once the packaging was removed using the minimal instructions and drivers downloaded from the samsung website. It prints incredibly fast compared to an inkjet and documents seem crisper, i have not tried to print photos. But after only 50 pages i get a warning light saying my yellow toner has run out and guess what?. £250 to replace all 4 cartridgesi am hoping the new cartridges last more like the 1000 pages i was lead to expect.

  • Samsung CLP 415NW
  • superb print quality and useability

Awful dark grey wash over every page. And agonising set up until i realised i need to reboot my mac for the printer to show (a step they forgot to mention). Awful grey wash over every page. Totally unusable and just received a pointless generic email from samsung support. Probably a broken fuser unit since the black toner is getting everywhere. Will probably go back to samsung shortly. Amended review: second printer received works well. But samsung, you have so many product reviews for this product saying it arrived faulty. What’s going on?great service from the supplier printerland.

Easy to set up, good print quality and wireless works perfectly (including the mobile print app). All for £180, very impressed so far.

The only thing was not happy about is paper jam two days after receiving machine and no manual,as on machine. Very difficult to get in touch with samsung but they were brilliant once did get in touchwith them and they repaired machine, which is under warranty.

Returned it for a smaller one for use in the home.

Like this, but it’s my second one. . Tends to get very hot when printing more than 10 sheets at a time. Having said that i now use a thicker paper. When i was using the very cheap thin paper, it tended to wrap around the internal roller, and screwed the machine . No problems so far with the new one. Just to note though, this machine will not work wirelessly. . I have it connected directly to my router. I work in it, have two degrees, including a masters, but just could not set up the wireless functionality.

    1. Great printer, wireless a painuntil today. I was fed up with inkjets because i used a printer so rarely that every time i came to use it i spent 30 minutes clearing the print heads (using loads of ink and paper) until i could properly print a page because the ink had dried out on the print head. I knew a laser wouldn’t have this problem. Eighteen months after purchase i am still on the original ‘test’ cartridges – shows how little i print. Bigger than i was expecting (sure, i should have checked the specs but i thought it was like a friend’s samsung laser printer which turns out to be a smaller model). I’m running a macbook pro and via a usb cable the printer worked perfectly. Trying to set up wireless was the biggest pain in the ****. I had been tearing my hair out trying to get this to print wirelessly. Today i really needed to get it working wirelessly. It actually turned out to be straightforward, for me at least. First, identify your router’s ip address. It will be something like 192. Via the printer itself (using the round up/down/left/right control – i’ll let you figure that out) get to network settings:first, turn wifi on (not sure if important now but i did it (and later my laptop software offered to do this anyway)).

    1. Great printer, cheap to run. This is the best printer i have bought for business use by a long shot,it has now printed over 10. 000 prints and is still going strong. A word from the wise though ignore/override the changing of cartriges when it prompts that they are getting low as you can get literally 100s of extra sheets(black white text) out of it before the printing goes pale and actually needs changing. And also use a decent ish quality of paper as the low gsm thin stuff can get jammed in the machine(nightmare to get out), as it does get quite warm on printing which wrinkles the paper up. (i use gsm 70 as a bare minimum now)bottom line, super printer would recommend to anyone. Saved me lots of money compared to my old model.

    1. Samsung clp-415nw wireless colour laser printer. I bought this replace an existing samsung laser printer as i was happy with the brand. It’s quite a big printer but being wireless i can put it anywhere i have space. My previous printer was connected via usb to my nas and i we could not print from windows 8 so i was delighted to find that everyone can print easily to this printer (even from a smartphone) since buying it i have switched to linux and it works fine after downloading the required drivers. The print quality is very good and the power saving mode is reassuring to have as i quite frequently forget to switch it off. The only thing that may be a problem to other users (it isn’t for me) is that on first startup (not coming out of sleep mode) it makes a horrendous grinding and clunking noise which could be off-putting to some people, i have read reviews where other people find such noises unacceptable and return products thinking they are faulty. I just checked that everything was inserted correctly and ignore it, if you leave it switched on and let it go to sleep, this doesn’t happen when it wakes up, i guess it’s just the toner being initialised. Another reason for buying this particular model was that i checked on a toner suppliers website and apparently it is possible to refill the toner cartridges easily (and cheaply) rather than buy new ones. I recommend this printer for home or small office use. If anyone has a question, just ask.
