Samsung M2825ND Xpress Mono Laser Printer : Great low cost duplex printer

Excellent product, great value,. Wish i had bought it earlier than struggling on with my old printer – quiet, quick and great b/w print – great value for home office use.

Great and reliable for small/home office. This is a really good and reliable small office or home office laser printer. Of particular benefit to me is the included duplexing (which is getting more common but is still not a standard feature in all similar products). I run two of these in my office side by side and they have been reliable and economical with toner. One has had to have a drum kit changed after about 2. They can be networked and shared by multiple computers easily. Slight downside is that the small footprint of the printer means that a4 paper (standard in europe) will stick out the back a little but still a very neat package overall. I tend to buy these in good as new conditions from amazon warehouse so i’ve always managed to get a bargain.

Very good – except for the network installation s/w. As hoped for (and expected i must say, as this is my 4th samsung small laser printer), it installs (wired ethernet, via my router and an attached network switch) fairly easily and works very well. Why did it not get 5 stars?because, whilst the samsung installation s/w found and installed the printer on two networked pcs (2 different versions of w7), it still would not print, and i had to go right into the printer properties and amend the ethernet port settings to initiate the lprserver mode. Fortunately i realised that pdq as i unfortunately had the same problem with the previous 2x ml-1610s, so it is ‘familiar ground’if you do suffer the same issue, do a search for ‘setup for lpr client under windows xp’ as that should lead you through the process (at least in xp and w7 – dunno about w8 or later as i’m avoiding that until it is forced on me), but the samsung installation s/w really should have been fixed by now to stop this happening:-(now installed, it is quick and quiet – let’s hope it is as long-lived as the previous samsung printers (which, btw, were fed almost entirely on cheap copier paper and cheap refilled toner cartridges and thrived until the paper pick-up wheels wore down and would not load the paper – but they were both worked very hard for many years before that happened :-))delivery from inkubus bargains was very quick indeed – ordered yesterday am and it arrived today pm – excellent service and not expensive. Edited oct 2015: some updates:- discovered (actually my wife did, but did not how she had done it until i investigated further) that it can duplex print with 2 pages per side (i. 4 pages on 1 sheet of paper) if you dive into the print options- works with refilled cartridges, which are about half the price of new ones- has some problems with very thin copier paper as i have recently had a number of paper jams, and getting the paper out is nowhere as easy as with my two old ml1610 printers as you have to remove the toner cartridge and then, very carefully pull the paper out whilst being very careful to pull it out evenly on both edges and to avoid tearing it as that would probably lead to some unrecoverable pieces left inside with no obvious way to access them- on the web you can find instructions for refilling the cartridges and also cleaning out drums which have become full of waste toner. Not tried those yet but both look to be doable (albeit ‘messy’)otherwise, still very happy with it so far. Here are the specifications for the Samsung M2825ND Xpress Mono Laser Printer:

  • Enter your model number
    to make sure this fits.
  • Print up to 28 pages per minute
  • Separate toner and drum for lower cost printing
  • Automatic Duplex for double sided printing which reduces your printing costs
  • Award Winning One Touch Eco Button- Save up to 20% on costs by reducing paper and toner usage
  • ReCP Technology produces clearer, more precise images on printed and scanned documents

Just bought a second one for home it’s that good. Still on the toner that it came with a year later so lasts a good while. Warm up time is super quick and it spits out pages. Had double sided printing too. The manual input can be a bit tricky as it has guides which move easily and no paper support but other than that i cant fault it.

Very good value for money printer. . Bought this because i was totally fed up with ink jet printers that fail to deliver after a couple of years. This was recommended best buy by which so on the strength of that i purchased. I also need to be able to take a reliable fast printer around with me when working off site for clients. So far the results are very good. I dont print off photos etc so very rarely need the colour facility afforded by ink jets. Cost per copy of black and white is also very low if you use the toner save for draft documents.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Great and reliable for small/home office
  • Satisfactory little printer
  • Brilliant printer. Five Stars.

Good printer – lousy network setup. I wanted a network mono laser printer in my lan for the whole household to use. As a laser printer it is fast, quiet, small footprint, with very good print output. On the networking side it is terrible. It is a nuisance to get set up on my windows 7 users. I have just got a windows 8. 1 laptop and when i tried to get that to use the samsung printer, it would not see the printer at all. Worse still was that i have lost the printer on all of the win7 machines too (cannot print to it from anywhere). I am now using the beast as a usb-connected printer to one win7 pc, the other computers can see it and print to it.

Nice printer for the price. . Was a piece of cake to setup on our apple devices. No fixed ip addresses or installation of drivers.

  1. Works with (at least) recent versions of opensuse gnu/linux and was very easy to set up. Other than that it seems to work fine.

Nice printer but required an engineer visit. Very pleased with the print quality but this particular unit had a problem which required a repair. After only a few days a warning light came due to a problem with the fuser unit. This required the printer to be turned off and on again. This kept happening more frequently until finally it failed to print at all. I called the samsung customer services line and they arranged for it to be picked up for repair. This was carried out a week later and the repaired printer now seems to be working properly again.

Good little printer, does what it says on the tin reliably. Only downside is cost of relatively low capacity printer cartridges compared to printer it replaced.

    1. Great little printer, but just a little messy when actually doing the printing. I actually bought it because it fits perfectly in those ikea square shelves and there wasnt a single other printer this small that had good reviews. Installation was fairly straight forward, just read the instructions and it works perfectly after that. Would definitely recommend as a basic home printer. Only downside i would say is that, and it’s a trade off because of it’s size, is that it’s a bit annoying that the paper input tray has to be constantly open to allow paper to be fed into the printer. So there’s no closed tray as there would be in a normal printer which is actually, in a way, beneficial because you can see when the printer needs more paper, but the downside is that it can look a little messy. Similarly, the output tray doesnt always hold the printed paper coming out so it can fall off onto the floor if you arent paying attention. In a sense, dont see why they didnt just make the printer a little longer so that it had a larger input and output tray, but compromises i supposeall in all, great printer.

    1. I don’t write reviews very often but this is an amazing samsung printer. Yes it’s mono but it’s brilliant. I bought this model in 2014 out of sheer frustration with my previous epson printer and cartridges becoming a total rip off or not being recognised by their own chip. This samsung is economical, prints double sided and is fast. It’s made my work so much easier. Only wished i had bought an samsung sooner as it would have saved a great deal of frustration. So happy i bought this and well worth every penny. The cartridge lasts for ages and prints flawlessly.

Had this printer for about 4 months now and have not experienced any issues, i print nearly every day and am still on the toner that came with the printer. If you need a printer that is reliable and cheap to run then i would really recommend this printer.

      1. Well packed and delivered on time. But no instructions for connection and operation of the printer, therefore if you are not knowledgeable you have to proceed by guesswork or trial and error.

Haven’t used it much, so this review is a bit premature. Easy to set up, prints well, and everything seems good.

Replaced my previous samsung printer model, which lasted for 3 years. I bought samsung again b/c of its price. This one is big improvement over its predecessor (my old samsung printer)even for the full price (85quid or so), it is fine. But from time to time they seem to be on sale (~50 quids).
