Samsung M2885FW 4-in-1 Multifunction Xpress Mono Laser – Recommended for home office or for low use office/shop.

It works very well and i am delighted. The manual runs to 300+ pages and is only available on line. The manual is a one size fits all, covering several models. Shortly after i got the printer, it started to crease the paper. The samsung repair service was outstanding. Quick response from the call centre, collected next day and returned, fixed, the day after.

Good quality and value multifunction laser. . We bought this to replace an ageing laser printer also by samsung. This gives excellent quality prints and has really good features including double-sided printing and photocopying facilities. Copies of images, although only black and white look very good – considerably better than our old laser printer. I would recommend this if you do a fair amount of printing. My wife and i both work in education/training at various times and need to do multiple handouts etc. This works out much better than inkjet prints. I haven’t yet tried the wireless printing from an ipad but it works great over wifi on our home network. We are mac users and it was extremely simple to set up and install drivers.

An excellent printer scanner and photocopier. Fast and reliable print over wifi.

I bought it for a6 printing which. I bought it for a6 printing which it does very well.

    I was given an old laser printer where the paper. I was given an old laser printer where the paper take up and pulling rollers were a bit dodgy and often “jammed” leading to much naughty language; my wife fed up with this heavily suggested i replace the printer. After a bit of perusing we found this model. I’ve installed it as a network printer. I use linux and have had no problem with it. It scans (extremely quickly) over the network without problem. It has a multipage scanner which can copy single sides to double sided. Annoyingly this document feeder seens not to be able to be used by my scanner program so multiple page scans require manually changing – it may be an option i haven’t found or possible with windwos: i can’t say. I haven’t tried the fax facility.

    1. Control panel is also annoying, requiring repeating several steps when a scan to. Some really irritating oversights make this ‘less than perfect’ but it does the job well enough. You can only scan to pc’s running the samsung software, whereas scanning to a samba share (such as on a typical nas) is far easier than scanning to pc’s running bespoke software on a network. Control panel is also annoying, requiring repeating several steps when a scan to share inevitably fails. That said, copy is good, print quality is good, and speedy enough, and double sided printing is a paper-saving bonus.

The biggest issue is that the image scanner needs replacing every 9000 copies, or in other words, every 3 printer cartridges or every 2 months. I have used many printers and this is a first. I would not have bought it on this basis – it is not fir for the purpose for which it was bought. Amazon should make this clear on the website. I was pleased initially with the printer/copier scanner. On the plus side it is quiet, quick and the duplex printing is good. For a home or small office which does not print much, this will do the job very nicely. ******update – have learned that, overall, the separation of the imaging unit from the cartridge should save money/cost. However, depending on your volume of printing, you should have a spare imaging unit.
